Day 21 - Routeburn Track pt 1
Routeburn Track is one of the nine Great Walks in New Zealand. It's a 32km hike that crosses the Humboldt Mountain range from the Queenstown side over to the west side close to Milford Sound. While it's 32km by foot it's over 250km by car so you need to have transportation arrange for the way back.
The track follows the Route Burn river all the way to the highest point at Harris Saddle. That means there's plenty of river crossings, waterfalls and the like on the way.
The valley at Routeburn Flats Hut made for a pretty decent lunch spot.
There were even some raspberries to be picked.
After Routeburn flats the route started climbing more steeply towards the Routeburn falls.
The Routeburn Falls Hut is situated right next to the falls and has quite and impressive view of the valley below.
Drinking some tea, watching the sunset from the hut terrace.
