Day 1 - Shanghai
While planning the trip I discovered that you can visit Shanghai visa-free up to 72 hours between flights. It also just so happened that the cheapest flights from Helsinki to Auckland were via Shanghai. Hence I booked my flights so that I would have an early arrival in the morning in Shanghai and a late departure in the evening.
There's a maglev train from the airport to the center. With top speeds of more than 400km/h and a travel time of only around 8 minutes it was the obvious choice :)
My first stop in the city was the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower.
Making my way to The Bund.
The view towards Pudong from The Bund.
In and around the Yu Garden.
Before heading back to the airport I had time to visit another tall building, the giant bottle opener also known as the Shanghai World Financial Center.
With a height of 492m and an observation deck at 474m it dwarfed even the TV tower I had visited earlier in the day.
