Day 17 - Franz Josef Glacier

Today's goal was to hike the Alex Knob Track. There was a local weather pattern which meant that each day the clouds tended roll in and cover the peaks at around noon. To reach the summit before that I need to have a very early start up the hill at around 07:00. The weather forecast wasn't especially promising with some rain predicted for the morning but I decided to give it a go anyway.

As predicted there was a bit of rain at first but thankfully it soon changed to just some mist and then cleared up.

The rewards for the 1km+ climb in altitude were some nice views of the Franz Josef Glacier.

I got there just in time as well. After a lunch break at the top the clouds had already rolled in and you could see only some tens of meters.

Some cool looking obstacles on the way down.
