Day 19 - Ben Lomond Track

Ben Lomond is the highest peak that loom right behind Queenstown. I hadn't planned on hiking it today but it just looked too damn inviting. Since I had quite a late start I took a shortcut by taking the gondola up the first 400m or so.

After the gondola there was still around 1km vertical to climb to the top standing at 1748m.  There were still small patches snow near the top from a recent snowfall.

The views from the top were quite stunning with snow topped mountains in all directions and the Lake Wakatipu below.

Nice sunset back on the Queenstown waterfront.
